Warmer Greetings from Chicagoland
When we last wrote to you, our temperature had plummeted to -27°F. Today it is a toasty24°F, an increase of 51 degrees. Things are warming up here in Chicagoland — but they were “hot” in Ecuador.
One of Manny’s favorite verses is Luke 11:13, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.” (I’m sure many of you could “hear” Manny emphasizing the words how much more as you just read that last sentence.) This verse sums up how God our Father answered your prayers for our recent ministry in Ecuador.
We have so many stories to tell and pictures to share, but here’s a summary by numbers and just one of many “only God” stories.
- Almost 1,000 miles traveled by plane, car, taxi and bus in a country rougly the size of Colorado
- Elevation: 9,350 ft in Quito area –> 13 ft in Guayaquil
- 2 international travel days; 9 days in country; 3 major cities
- 11 services in 7 churches
- 3 bookstore visits
- 4 prison services for men, 1 prison service for women
- 56 copies of Oración Radical given by KHNM to inmates
- 1 radio and 1 television program
At the CLC Guayaquil bookstore, the manager advertised an “author meet and greet.” Manny spoke to three different groups of customers, and the last group was certainly a divine appointment.
Manny was standing near the checkout counter when a woman approached the clerk and asked for a book on prayer! She was with her sister and brother-in-law, and the three of them were returning to their homeland of Venezuela the next day. Her sister was going to plant a church, and they had come to look for good books to take with them.
After discussing the challenges of developing a personal prayer life and praying for these dear saints, they left the store with 22 autographed copies of Oración Radical.
Venezuela is in a crisis and Manny would jump at the chance to go there to minister. However, with the current political situation that is not possible. But by the sovereignty of God, he is going — via 22 books. Please pray for this couple as they start the church. Pray that their core group would be drawn into a deeper personal relationship with our good Heavenly Father.
This is just one example of the how much more of God we experienced. We thought we were going to minister in just three cities in Ecuador, but God opened a door for our call to prayer to enter another country!
It is our great privilege to be ambassadors for Christ. Thank you so very much for supporting us in prayer. We were diligent in planting seeds of the Gospel wherever we could. We sought to strengthen those who pastor and minister in various ways. Join us in praying that God will give the increase (1 Cor. 3:6)!
Fondly in Christ,
